Leadership Awards
Emerging Leader of the Year Award
The Emerging Leader of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has established him/herself as a rising leader through significant contributions to her or his organization, team, or staff group in their first year in a leadership role.
Criteria:
A. This application form must be completed by the student organization president or adviser, team captain or coach, or student staff member or residence director.
B. Each organization, team or staff group may only nominate one member.
C. The nominee may be a first year student, sophomore, junior, or senior; and they must have joined the organization, team, or staff no earlier than August of the previous academic year.
D. The significant contributions to the organization should have been made within the students first year holding a leadership position.
In 1967, Trenton State College President Gillenwater inaugurated a program to encourage student organizations to improve their Grade Point Averages by competing academically with one another. The President’s Cup is awarded annually to the student organization with the highest academic average.
Criteria:
A. This application must be submitted by a student organization officer.
B. The application must include the names and PAWS ID numbers for all members.
C. All applications will be verified with the student organization’s adviser for membership.
D. All applications will be verified with the Office of Student Activities staff for GPA.
Student Organization President of the Year Award
The Student Organization President of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding individual who advanced the mission of his or her organization while challenging and encouraging the membership to advance new initiatives, acquire new skills, and prepared the group for leadership transition and ongoing success. Recognition of accomplishments is limited to the current year of presidency, and should not reflect previous involvement within the organization.
Criteria:
A. This application form may be completed by any member of the student organization or group adviser.
B. The nominee must have just completed or currently be serving in his or her second consecutive semester as president.
Outstanding Student Athlete Leader of the Year Award
The Outstanding Student Athlete Leader of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding individual who publicly advanced the mission of his or her varsity athletic team while internally challenging and encouraging the membership to advance new initiatives, acquire new skills, and prepare the group for leadership transition and ongoing success.
Criteria:
A. This application form may be completed by any member of the athletic team or coach.
B. The nominee must have just completed, or currently be serving in his or her second consecutive semester.
Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award
The Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award recognizes the developmental and motivational contributions made to members and officers alike, that inspire leadership, challenge thinking, encourage new ideas and initiatives, and empower action.
Criteria:
A. This application form may be completed by any member of the student organization.
B. Each organization may only nominate one advisor.
C. The nominee must have just completed or currently be serving in his or her second consecutive semester as advisor.
